This blog was prompted by the discovery by Katt Rambo of a court case in Sevier County, Tennessee discussing probate of property belonging to Henry Rambo deceased and naming his heirs, one of whom was Elias Rambo of Mississippi [#XXXXM] in the Rambo Family Tree, hereafter referred to as The Book. One of his sisters named in the court case was Rona McCroskey and the 1850 census revealed her name to actually be Rheuhemiah McCroskey with a daughter of the same name. From there it was a short jump to deciding that Jacob Rambo of North Carolina who married Rheuhemiah Sulcer and bought property in adjoining Sevier County Tennessee in 1810 must be the father. So far, the name Rheuhemiah is the only proof of the relationship, but it is an incredibly unusual name. ReplyDeleteSorry, but I've never heard of such a person. Can you cite any contemporary documents from the 1600s that name her as his wife? I do NOT believe Ancestry trees at all.
DeleteI came here looking for further information on the family of John Rambo and Lydia Neal. They were both born in Washington County Virginia and moved to Somerset, Kentucky. My G-G-grandmother was Dorcus Elizabeth Rambo, married my GG grandfather, John Franklin Kervin and moved to Alabama around 1868. Thank you for sharing this work.

I came her for information regarding John A. Rambo and Eliza Hagate Rambo line. They would be my 2nd great grandparents. I have traced back to the 1600's I believe and have quite a lot of information and not sure how to put it all together. Any help/information you could share would be greatly appreciated.
