Only one Jacob Bankston in Wilkes County, Georgia prior to 1795

By exhaustive study of the Wilkes County, Georgia Tax Records 1785-1805 published in 1996 by Frank Parker Hudson, Cynthia Forde has confirmed that there was only one adult Jacob Bankston in Wilkes County, Georgia before 1795.  Confusion arose from the fact that the militia districts changed from year to year, making it appear as if there were more than one Jacob Bankston.

Elias Rambo [#XXXXM] son of Jacob [31C6]

This blog was prompted by the discovery by Katt Rambo of a court case in Sevier County, Tennessee discussing probate of property belonging to Henry Rambo deceased and naming his heirs, one of whom was Elias Rambo of Mississippi [#XXXXM] in the Rambo Family Tree, hereafter referred to as The Book.  One of his sisters named in the court case was Rona McCroskey and the 1850 census revealed her name to actually be Rheuhemiah McCroskey with a daughter of the same name.  From there it was a short jump to deciding that Jacob Rambo of North Carolina who married Rheuhemiah Sulcer and bought property in adjoining Sevier County Tennessee in 1810 must be the father.  So far, the name Rheuhemiah is the only proof of the relationship, but it is an incredibly unusual name. Lawrence Rambo [31C] siblings incorrect in book

This letter was written in 1772 by the trustees of Gloria Dei church in Philadelphia to Lawrence Rambo in Edgefield, SC naming his deceased brother and his sister. The Book needs this correction: Ann Rambo [#315] married Daniel Jones, not Ann Rambo [#334] The Jacob Rambo [#36] who died before 1772 was an uncle of Lawrence rather than his brother, so the church wardens missed that detail.
